WELCOME TO KINDERGARTEN
Kindergarten have had a great start to the year. We have been busy getting to know our new school and our new friends and buddies. We have learnt so much already and our teacher Mrs Castles is very excited about the year ahead.
Kindergarten have began to learn and play lots of number games and phonics games and we have started to independently practice our 3 ways to read. We are learning lots of new songs and rhymes as well. It is going to be a fun year!
We LOVE To Read
Kindergarten have been learning the letters of the alphabet and using play dough, sand and markers to practice letters. We have been playing bingo and letter match games and we have been on many letter hunts.
kinder have been working on reading and making words as well as listening and engaging in lots of stories. Kindergarten really enjoy writing about the stories we read.
Kindergarten practice their reading, phonics, phonemic awareness and writing skills everyday through independent activities. Mrs Castles takes time to read with all the students in small groups and so Kinder students work on their skills independently. Kinder students practice how to start their work straight away and work the whole time! Here we are practicing our literacy skills.
We Love Numbers
Kindergarten have been learning to count forwards and backwards and have been practicing recognising numbers. We are starting to add and subtract. We play a lot of Maths games to practice our Numeracy skills.
In Kindergarten we have lots of opportunities to work together. We co-operate and solve problems with our work partners. We have been working with a partner to cover our desks with our own tablecloths to explore the concept of area in Mathematics. We have also been working together to share our toy cars into equal groups
Kindergarten have been reading some Aboriginal Dreaming stories. We have viewed the Rainbow Snake. We created artworks about the Rainbow Snake and used lots of different adjectives to write descriptions of the Rainbow Snake.
